EroBrasil Xavantina was born NX GOLD, a gold mining company located in Nova Xavantina (MT), approximately 670 km east of the capital, Cuiabá.
History reveals that in the region there was an area known as “Ouro do Araés”, legendary lands where there was such an abundance of gold that it would be possible to collect it with bare hands on the surface. In 1745, the Araés area was explored by Bandeira de Amaro Leite Moreira, with an expedition containing three hundred men. This expedition gave rise to activities in Araés and the existence of gold was discovered along the Santo Antônio stream, a tributary of the Rio das Mortes.
With the arrival of the Roncador-Xingu Expedition, in 1944, the region began to be developed with the installation of a new village that gave rise to the city of Nova Xavantina. In 1990, Mineração Nova Xavantina Ltda was created, with the participation of Paulo Abib Engenharia, Construtora Andrade Gutierrez and Companhia Brasileira do Cobre (CBC).
In May 2004, Public Notice of Availability No. 162/2004, DNPM-MT was published, in which 6 companies participated and Mineração Caraíba (MCSA) was considered the winner. In 2010, after an environmental diagnosis work, MCSA developed a recovery plan for 15 hectares of degraded areas. This plan was an important milestone in the company’s environmental actions, as its actions allowed the animals to return to the region.
In 2012, operations at the beneficiation plant began with the production of the first gold and silver bullion mass. Soon after, in 2014, Mineração Caraíba was split, giving rise to NXGOLD. Also in November 2014, NXGOLD reached its production target for the first time, with 96kg of gold contained in the bullion x 91kg forecast.
In 2017, NXGOLD was acquired by ERO COPPER, which provided a bold business strategy with the aim of increasing high-grade mineral reserves. In this way, the mine’s useful life is extended and the site’s yield is maximized, leveraging the installed infrastructure capacity.
In 2022, revealing the great potential and success already achieved, NXGOLD becomes part of Ero Brasil through the Ero Brasil Xavantina business unit, celebrating modernity, local references and valuing the sustainable mineral vocation of the region through gold.
