EroBrasil is committed to operating throughout the group with the best environmental practices. These practices include developing and implementing innovative ways to reduce freshwater consumption, intensifying the reforestation program, conducting the recycling program throughout the company and in communities, in addition to imprinting ongoing efforts to rehabilitate areas that are not in use, including inherited ones.
In our largest operation, at the Caraíba unit, 100% of the mine and plant’s electricity demand is met through hydroelectric, wind and solar renewable energy from the Sobradinho Dam Complex.
In addition, our tailings co-disposal methodology allowed us to stop using our tailings dam, which is currently deactivated, and to start revegetating its area. In addition, we reduced our dependence on fresh water, reusing around 86% of water through the co-disposal process.
At EroBrasil Xavantina, we have made efforts to replant and remediate sites that were previously impacted by artisanal mining and, in this way, help to develop the region’s flora and fauna. In addition, over the past two years, improved surface and mine water collection practices have resulted in a significant reduction in freshwater used in processing activities.
